Cut a video down to the moment that matters

Long recordings often contain setup time, mistakes, pauses or extra footage after the useful moment has finished. A quick trim turns that raw recording into a clip that is easier to share, upload, archive or reuse in another editor. This browser-based video trimmer lets you enter a start time and an end time, then saves only that section as a new MP4 file. It is designed for practical edits such as shortening screen recordings, preparing product demos, clipping meeting snippets or removing dead air from a phone video.

Everything runs locally. The selected file is copied into ffmpeg.wasm, processed in memory and written back as a download. There is no upload queue, no account and no remote server keeping a copy of your footage. That makes the tool useful for private work files, unreleased designs, support recordings or any media that should remain on your computer.

Fast copy mode and compatibility

The tool first tries stream copy mode, which uses -c copy to avoid re-encoding the video and audio. When the source format and cut points allow it, this is much faster and keeps the original quality. Some files cannot be copied cleanly into a new MP4, or the requested cut starts between keyframes. In those cases the tool automatically retries with re-encoding so the output is more compatible, although it may take longer.

Tips for accurate trims

Enter times in seconds, including decimals when needed. For example, 12.5 starts half a second after 12 seconds. If you need a very precise frame, choose a slightly wider range first and then refine in a dedicated editor. For web sharing, keep clips short and check the downloaded result before deleting the original. The first trim may spend extra time downloading the WebAssembly engine, but subsequent work in the same page can begin immediately.

How to use

Frequently asked questions

Does trimming upload my video?
No. The file stays on your device and is processed in your browser with ffmpeg.wasm.
Why is the first trim slower?
The first use downloads the WebAssembly media engine. After that, trimming speed depends on file size, codec and your device.
Why might the cut not land on the exact frame?
Fast stream-copy trimming can cut at nearby keyframes. If that fails, the tool falls back to re-encoding for better compatibility.
What output format do I get?
The download is an MP4 file, which is broadly supported by browsers, phones and editing apps.
