Video to GIF Converter
Convert a video clip to an animated GIF online, privately and entirely in your browser with fps, width, start and duration controls.
🔒 Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploadedConvert video clips into shareable GIFs
A short animated GIF is useful when you want a loop that plays almost everywhere: chat apps, documentation, bug reports, tutorials, product pages and social posts. This video to GIF converter focuses on the part of a clip that matters. Choose a start time, limit the duration, set the frame rate and reduce the width before conversion. Those controls are important because GIF is an old image format, not a modern video codec, so large dimensions and long clips can create surprisingly big files.
The tool runs ffmpeg.wasm directly inside your browser. Your video is copied into a temporary in-memory file system, converted to an animated GIF and then downloaded back to your device. Nothing is uploaded for processing. That privacy-first workflow is ideal for internal demos, client previews, unreleased product screens or personal videos that you do not want to hand to a remote conversion service.
Choosing frame rate, size and duration
For most clips, 8 to 12 frames per second looks smooth enough while keeping the file manageable. Use a width around 360 to 640 pixels for documentation or chat. If the GIF is meant to show tiny interface text, increase the width rather than the frame rate. The duration setting is usually the biggest factor: trimming a clip from ten seconds to three seconds can cut the result by more than half and also makes the animation easier to understand.
Private local processing with ffmpeg.wasm
On the first run, the browser downloads the WebAssembly engine that powers the conversion. This can take a moment, especially on slow connections, because the engine contains real media processing code. After loading, performance depends on your CPU, memory and the source video. Keep the tab open while the progress bar advances. If a conversion fails, try a shorter segment, a smaller width or a more common source format such as MP4.
